Yearbooks Menu dei Motori: how much they are worth and where they can be found
The goal of the quarter of a century is starting to approach for the classic and famous yearbook “Menu dei Motori” (VIDEO).
In fact, while the number 23 for the year 2019 is being prepared, the initiatives and programs are multiplying around the mythical logo with the piston that we cross the fork, a symbol in the whole world of that “Modena Planet” that now it is also in the name of the agency and the “publisher” that manages it.
After the “historic” beginnings with the Lauro Restaurant in Modena (1996), at the 50th Ferrari (1997) the classic yearbook of the Planet Modena passed through various managements; first Ruoteclassiche (since 2000), with as many important anniversaries worthily celebrated: from the 90th Maserati (2004), to the 10th anniversary of the same MdM (2006), then again the 60th Ferrari (2007), the Alfa Romeo Centenary (2010) , the 50th Lamborghini (2013) when, in addition to the classic version with texts in Italian / English (as always published in Italy), there was also a similar and even larger volume printed in Japan with texts in English / Japanese, fruit of a specific agreement with the Japanese publisher NEKO PUBLISHING.
On that occasion, the “Menu dei Motori” yearbook also changed its format (larger), thus arriving at the two volumes dedicated to the Centenario Maserati (2014), of which the first to present its history (2013/2014) and to follow, the following year, the volume that presented the event itself (2014/2015). To then move directly to the special issue dedicated to the 20th Anniversary of MdM: the first of the current series with a rigid cover and attached event / presentation (VIDEO).
Following this, the entry into the scene of the Modena agency “Pianeta Modena”, starting from the number 21, dedicated to the 70th Ferrari (2017), to get to the present day with the number 22 of 2018.
Meanwhile, alongside the classic annual volumes, the Motor Menu has been enriched with various side events, including the birth, in 2000, of the first website: http://www.menudeimotori.com/english.php
followed by a new, more modern and updated in 2009: https://www.menudeimotori.eu/english/
until they even explode on social media like Fb on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary (2016): https://it-it.facebook.com/pages/category/Book-Series/Menu-dei-Motori-220612768342426/
Of course, in the meantime, even the same distribution, hand in hand with popularity, expanded and spread around the world, directly and indirectly: from the first distribution entrusted to specialized retailers and bookstores of Maranello, such as MARANELLO COLLECTION and Hors Ligne, it was soon passed also to the online sale with the LIBRERIA DELL’AUTOMOBILE.
Online sales that quickly spread throughout the world: from GILENA INTERNATIONAL MOTOR BOOKS, to the US AUTOBOOKS-AEROBOOKS, to the British HORTONS BOOKS LIMITED, and the German V12BOOKS, in addition to the Japanese NEKO PUBLISHING and others that are being added this year .
This as far as official sales are concerned, as a logical, there is also a dense private market, on platforms such as Ebay, Amazon, etc.
So, how much can a complete collection of the current 22 “Motors Menu” be worth? Assuming that we can succeed in completing it, as some numbers have been exhausted for a long time and are nowhere to be found (the original No. 1, not the twenty-year reissue, the No. 2 dedicated to the 50th Ferrari, the No. 13 of 2009), while others are already very rare (N ° 4 of 1999, N ° 8 of 2003, N ° 9 of 2004, N ° 16 of 2012), below we provide an updated list, number by number, with some reference prices and also all possible clues to help you find the copies you need:
