Russian Grand Prix – Practice 2: Charles second, seb fifth

Charles Leclerc was second and Sebastian Vettel fifth at the end of the second free practice session for the Russian Grand Prix. Both drivers got through their programme without any problems, simulating qualifying and also various points in the race, with different tyre compounds.

65 laps. Both drivers started the 90 minute session at the Sochi Autodrom on medium tyres with Charles posting a 1’34”148 and Seb a 1’34”306. They then switched to the soft compound brought here by Pirelli and the times dropped to 1’33”497 for the Monegasque and 1’34”201 for the German, who actually made a small mistake on this lap.

Long run. In the second part of the session the Scuderia Ferrari drivers began working in race mode, doing long runs on the Soft and Medium tyres. The SF90s will be back on track tomorrow at noon (11 CET) for the final hour of free practice, prior to qualifying at 14 (14 CET.) The Russian Grand Prix gets underway on Sunday at 14.10 (13.10 CET.)
