Russian Grand Prix – Charles third, Seb retires

Sochi, 29 September 2019 – It was a frustrating day for Scuderia Ferrari at the Russian Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc finished third while Sebastian Vettel had to retire because a problem with a hybrid component of the Power Unit.

Unlucky.  In fact, Charles ended up behind the Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas because Seb had to park his SF90 at the side of the track, which led to a Virtual Safety Car period during which the Mercedes were able to pit, losing very little time.

On to Japan.  In the second half of the race, Charles tried everything to get past Hamilton and Bottas but in the end, he had to settle for third place. This was the Monegasque driver’s ninth podium f the season. The next round, the 17th of the season, takes place in Japan in a fortnight’s time.
