Over 170 Ferraris on track at Mugello for the Finali Mondiali

The countdown to the long-awaited Ferrari Finali Mondiali has begun, the traditional end-of-season event set to include the trophy-giving for all the international titles in the Prancing Horse single-marque series, as well as the final podiums for the Ferrari Challenge world champions. The grand event is scheduled to get underway on Thursday October 24 at the Autodromo del Mugello.

Four days of entertainment, adrenaline, challenges and two special anniversaries await: the 90th anniversary of Scuderia Ferrari and the 70th jubilee of the first win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the legendary endurance race held at the Circuit de la Sarthe in France.

The packed programme will include races featuring nearly one hundred 488 Challenge cars on the track which will eventually determine the final honour’s list of the titles still up for grabs in the Challenge North America, Asia Pacific and Europe. Over sixty single-seaters line up from both F1 Clienti and the mighty-powered XX Programme, in addition to sixteen of the most exquisite Ferraris from the last thirty years to be displayed on track by Club Competizioni GT.

Challenge Europe. All the titles have yet to be handed out in this series. The Trofeo Pirelli sees a battle between leader Louis Prette, on 152 points and the chasing Niccolò Schirò (Rossocorsa) some 12 points adrift. British driver Sam Smeeth (Stratstone Ferrari), also gets the battle call-up, trailing on 118 points.

The Trofeo Pirelli AM title fight goes down to two key protagonists: Emanuele Maria Tabacchi (Rossocorsa) currently holding sway over Jack Brown (Graypaul Nottingham), with the Italian with 179 points on the scorecard compared to the 151 of the challenger.

In Coppa Shell, Tani Hanna (Formula Racing) arrives at Mugello still lying in top spot, despite withdrawing in Race-2 of the most recent event in Imola. Eric Cheung (Formula Racing), thanks to a win at the Romagna circuit, has managed to whittle down the gap and will now attempt to bridge a 23-point gap (140 compared to 117).

In Coppa Shell AM, Agata Smolka (Rossocorsa) leads with a 6-point advantage (133 in total) over the nearest immediate rival Laurent De Meeus (127) defending the HR Owen livery. Further adrift is Henrik Jansen (Formula Racing) who, thanks to a win and a third place finish claimed in Imola, is currently holding a ‘virtual’ third place on the podium (118 points).

Challenge North America. The final round of the season at Homestead (Miami) saw the first title scooped by Mark Issa (Ferrari of Atlanta), the champion of Coppa Shell, who racked up an impressive array of season honours, thanks to 6 wins and 4 runner-up spots out of 12 possible races. The Coppa Shell AM class can expect a head-to-head between Brad Horstmann (Foreign Cars Italia) at the top of the special category on 130 points and Jay Schreibman (128) of Cauley Ferrari behind.

The Trofeo Pirelli will likewise feature a two-horse title race between Cooper MacNeil (Scuderia Corsa – Ferrari of Westlake) topping the leader board with 213 points and Benjamin Hites (The Collection) some 9 points shy of the leadership. Meanwhile 4 drivers will be in contention for the honours in the Trofeo Pirelli AM category standings, with Neil Gehani (Continental Autosports) currently ruling the roost with 150 points, the result of 4 season triumphs and 3 additional podiums, with Ziad Ghandour (Boardwalk Ferrari) hot on his heels just 6 points behind, who was able to make off with a royal flush in the final round in Florida (2 wins, 2 pole positions and 2 fastest laps). Dave Musial (Ferrari of Lake Forest) follows behind on 138 points and further down, on 118, lies Brent Holden (Ferrari of Newport Beach).

Challenge Asia-Pacific. The only trophy still to be awarded in this series is that of the Coppa Shell, where Japanese driver Kazuyuki Yamaguchi (Cornes Osaka) leapt to the top of the table on 158 points thanks to twin wins (and two fastest laps) collected in the most recent stage in Singapore, to bypass fellow countryman Makoto Fujiwara (Cornes Osaka) on 153. Just behind comes Chinese driver Yanbing Xing (149) and the Hong Konger Michael Choi (147).

In Coppa Shell AM, meanwhile, Andrew Moon (Forza Motor Korea) has already got his hands on the silverware; his 71-point advantage over the nearest rival Kent Chen (Modena Motori Taiwan) allowed the driver an early celebration.

The title has also already been awarded in the Trofeo Pirelli where multi-time champion Philippe Prette (Blackbird Concessionaires HK), thanks to two triumphs in Singapore, has the maths to his advantage: the 52 points separating the driver from Go Max (M Auto Hiroshima), second in the standings, are by now, unbridgeable.

The Finali. The Ferrari Finali Mondali will be an unmissable event for all motorsport enthusiasts and for Prancing Horse tifosi. Sunday October 29 will see the big showdown for all the world titles still in play, which will be decided in a single race for the participants of Trofeo Pirelli, Pirelli Am, Coppa Shell and the Coppa Shell Am.

XX Programme and F1 Clienti. Throughout the entire event on the Tuscany asphalt, there will be opportunities for exhibitions from the 18 expected historical Formula 1 single-seaters, as well as nearly fifty cars from the exclusive XX Programme, such as the FXX-K Evo, which at this very Mugello track was unveiled to a packed house in 2017, not to mention the FXX or the 599XX which will be present in its Evo version.

Sunday. The most long-awaited moment for all the tifosi will be the traditional Ferrari Show scheduled for Sunday with the Scuderia Ferrari single-seater Formula 1 models set to take part in a crowd-thrilling exhibition. And if that were not enough, enthusiasts will also be able to savour the Competizioni GT cars such as the 488 GTE – recent winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans – or the 488 GT3, considered a benchmark vehicle in the closed-wheel racing world.

Paddock. The entertainment will not be limited to just the track, but there will also be plenty of fun in the paddock for Ferrari tifosi of all ages. Even the kids will have an area especially designated to them. In the paddock spectators will be able to admire an impressive range of Ferrari machinery up close, including some of the most recent additions, the F8 Spider, the 812GTS or even the hyper-technological SF90 Stradale.
