New 500 wins “City Car 2022” title at GQ Car Awards
Men's lifestyle magazine GQ has honored the design and performance of the New 500, naming it "City Car 2022." The FIAT icon has won 25 international trophies to date, with 14 in the UK alone.
At the GQ Car Awards 2022, the New 500 was named “City Car of the Year”, thanks to its outstanding performance and timeless design. Now in its fourteenth edition and organized by GQ, the prestigious men’s lifestyle magazine, the competition has recently changed its judging criteria, placing special emphasis on electric vehicles.
The jury was fascinated by the FIAT icon, symbol of Italian creativity and talent, for its timeless style and innovative powertrain that ensures sustainability and efficiency. All this is underlined by a legendary history: since 1957, this symbol of Made in Italy and Dolce Vita has continued to accompany, with great personality, the social and cultural changes of Europe. And today, in the face of increasingly green mobility, the New 500 is the perfect, affordable answer for those who pay attention to both environmental issues and modern, distinctive design.
The prize won at the GQ Car Awards is its 25th international award, 14 of which have been won in the UK alone, including the 2020 Driving Electric’s “Car of the Year and Best Small Electric Car” title, “Best City Car 2021” by Auto Express and the most recent “Best Small Electric Car for the City and Best Convertible for Value 2022” awarded by What Car?. On top of these prestigious acknowledgments, it has also received the “Best
Design 2020” award from Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport magazine and “Best Design Concept” at the prominent international Red Dot Design Awards.
The spirit of the New 500 is well represented in the ad campaign “Spark Something Beautiful” available in the UK. Created in collaboration with Jacob Collier, the five-time Grammy award-winning British musician and composer and the Universal Music Group for Brands, the spot was designed to raise awareness and celebrate the beauty of the natural world. The tagline of the campaign stems from the joyful driving experience of the New 500 and the feeling of reconnecting with the outside world enhanced by the quiet electric motor.
