British Grand Prix – “A clearer picture after free practice”

Meeting the media. Before the track action starts tomorrow, Sebastian and Charles attended the usual planning meetings with the engineers before facing the media in the team’s press motorhome. The first to face the questions and TV cameras was Sebastian, who said he wasn’t going to make any predictions before the cars had even turned a wheel. “This season we have seen results fluctuate from one weekend to another, so I’m waiting to see the data from free practice to get an idea of our potential here at Silverstone,” said the German. “Development is continuing race after race,” added the four times world champion. “Obviously, we continue to push to get closer to our rivals. That’s something we have managed to do over the past three races, so let’s see how it goes here. There’s a new surface, which will be a new challenge for everyone.” Sebastian also said he was happy that Silverstone would host the British Grand Prix for a further five years. “This is a historic track, that has always produced a great show and that all the drivers love, which is why we can only be happy to hear about the renewed deal.”

Charles.  A few moments later, it was Leclerc facing the press. Off the back of three consecutive podium finishes, he explained his feelings on the eve of the start of track action. “Silverstone is a circuit I like a lot and I’m happy that we’ll be racing here for the next few years. I’m keen to get on track to find out how competitive we are on this layout with its many corners. Our cornering speed has usually be slower than that of our competitors, however, over the past few weeks, I think we have done a good job to make the SF90 more competitive.” Charles added that he continues to feel more comfortable with the car. “Recently, along with my engineers, I focused on preparing for qualifying, optimising each of the three phases. I think we saw the result of that in France and in Austria, proving that I have made progress. Now we have to continue in the same direction to further develop the SF90.”

Programme. Tomorrow’s track action gets underway with the first free practice session at 10 am (11 CET) followed by the second at 2 pm (15 CET). On Saturday, the final practice hour starts at 11 (12 CET) with qualifying at 14 (15 CET.) The British Grand Prix gets underway at 14.10 (15.10) on Sunday.
