Orders kick off for the New Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio

In Italy and soon in all other markets, orders are open for the Giulia and Stelvio in the Quadrifoglio version – the symbol of Alfa Romeo’s noble Italian sportsmanship – from the brand's exclusive showrooms. The epitome of technical sophistication and technology: a 2.9-liter V6 engine turbocharged to 520 hp and mechanical limited-slip differential, for a unique driving experience. A rush of technology made possible by the new adaptive full-LED matrix headlights, and by the new digital instrument panel with the historical “telescopic” design. Carbon fiber dominates the interior in a new 3D finish. Unique and always focused on the driver, the driving dynamics are confirmed as the benchmark in the respective categories, for their perfect weight balance, best-in-class agility and lightness, and extremely direct steering. Alfa Romeo’s “photographic story” continues, inspired by its legendary drivers. After Ugo Sivocci and his exploits at the Targa Florio in Palermo (1923), it then came the turn of Tazio Nuvolari, the Flying Mantuan and a legendary 20th-century driver. Alfa Romeo is unveiling the new Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio with an evocative photo shoot, using images to reinterpret the legendary anecdote of Tazio Nuvolari’s “night-time overtaking with the headlights off”, against Achille Varzi.

Orders are now open at Alfa Romeo’s showrooms for the New Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio, an iconic symbol that brings with it a century-old search for technical excellence applied to competitions and production cars. The iconic, technical purity and technology come together to place the cars at the apex of their respective segments: best in class for handling and power-to-weight ratio, for a unique, direct and engaging driving experience like a true Alfa Romeo.

Even more technology, more power with 520 hp and the utmost technical sophistication, courtesy of the mechanical limited-slip differential.
The Giulia and Stelvio “Quadrifoglio” are the result of a century-old quest for technical excellence applied to competitions and production cars. The 2.9-liter V6 engine has been turbocharged to 520 hp (for Europe, the UK and China) and is combined with the mechanical limited-slip differential. As a result of specific tuning derived from the Giulia GTA design experience, this important technical device contributes to the improvement of the car’s behavior and traction, by optimizing torque transfer and increasing stability, agility and cornering speed.
Best-in-class driving dynamics, the result of surprising lightness, given the use of ultra-light materials such as aluminum for the engine and carbon fiber for the transmission shaft, bonnet, spoiler and side skirts. In the Giulia, the aerodynamics remain active with the carbon-fiber front splitter: when activated, it controls the quality of air flow under the vehicle, to increase stability and performance. Last but not least, the Akrapovič exhaust system, for its unmistakable sound.
Powerful personality in the exterior where Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio are once again falling into line with the “family feeling” of the line-up, featuring “3+3” headlights, with new adaptive Full-LED matrix lights with anti-glare and adaptable driving beam for optimal lighting in all conditions. All this ensures energy savings, extensive improvement in safety, and reduced eye strain. Burnished 5-hole sports alloy wheels, 19” for the Giulia and 21” for the Stelvio, with super sporty red brake calipers. They are available in the following liveries: Rosso Etna, Verde Montreal, Blu Misano, Grigio Vesuvio, Nero Vulcano, and Rosso Alfa (non-metallic).
The same sporty features can be found in the interior, where the exclusive optional combination of black leather and alcantara prevails and theinnovative 3D finish in genuine carbon fiber for the dashboard, central tunnel and door panels. The steering wheel is upholstered in leather and Alcantara with black stitching and carbon fiber accents.
From exclusive aesthetics to technology and on-board connectivity that, by definition, are there to ensure the typical Alfa Romeo driving experience. The proof lies in the new instrument panel, featuring the historical “telescopic” design, including the fully digital 12.3” TFT screen, to access all the car’s data and the settings for the autonomous driving technologies. In the Quadrifoglio, on top of the three layouts available across the Alfa Romeo line-up – Evolved Relax and Heritage, the exclusive “Race” configuration is also making its debut.

The “Race” layout brings together on the central screen all the essential information every driver wants to keep under control: tachometer, speedometer and shiftlight for manual driving. The layout can be customized by placing additional information in the sidebars, including snapshots of performance.

Both the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio are equipped with a smooth and intuitive Human-Machine Interface (HMI), to put all the car’s features at your fingertips. The infotainment system also provides content, functionality and the “Alfa Connect Services” platform, consisting of a wide range of practical services for safety and comfort.

The photo shoot for the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio, inspired by the exploits of Tazio Nuvolari

Since the driver Ugo Sivocci took the RL to victory in the Targa Florio in April 1923 – this car being the first Alfa Romeo in history embellished by the auspicious Quadrifoglio Verde, the logo has become a symbol of Alfa Romeo’s DNA – Noble Italian Sportsmanship – and identifies the brand’s highest-performance cars, both those that competed in track races, and the most powerful and exclusive road cars.

The same goes for the New Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio, which are taking the brand ahead into a future that refers to the aesthetic canons of the past, with innovation and putting them at the service of sportiness and performance. These prerequisites have always been an essential feature of the Alfa Romeos that triumphed in the toughest and most prestigious races, driven by heroes whose names have become legend, such as Tazio Nuvolari.

The atmosphere of this period and the exploits of the “flying Mantuan” are taken up in the photo shoot that Alfa Romeo is now dedicating to its new additions, ambassadors of “timeless beauty”, portrayed in the most iconic locations of a glorious past, in Mantua itself and in the environs of Lake Garda. These locations served as staging posts for the 1930 “1000 Miglia”, when Nuvolari made his name driving an Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Spider Zagato at an average speed of over 100 km/h, which was extraordinary for that time. After a very strong start from the outset (if behind his great rival Varzi, in another Alfa Romeo), Nuvolari set the best time at the first checkpoint in Parma. In Bologna, the Maserati rose to first, followed by a seesaw of exciting overtaking and counter-overtaking where the battle ended up between Alfa Romeos, with the young Achille Varzi fighting to the last to take the lead in the race.

It ended with an unexpected epilogue, the ins and outs of which have become legend: Tazio Nuvolari, already ahead of everyone else in the timings, decided to win, and overtook Varzi overnight so he could take the checkered flag.

Whether legend or reality, this conclusion fully reflects the competitive and sporting spirit of a driver who accompanied Alfa Romeo through an epic period studded with success, embodying the timeless values of a brand that continues to be the stuff of dreams for its fans all over the world.
