Another weekend of GT titles for Ferrari

Maranello, 2 October 2022 - Ferrari rounds off another title-filled weekend thanks to the formidable 488 GT3 Evo 2020, which has rewarded the Prancing Horse manufacturer with four more laurels, two in the American IMSA series and two in the GT World Challenge Europe.

IMSA. Ferrari have once again triumphed in the IMSA series with a fantastic double – both driver and team wins – in the Endurance Cup, with Daniel Serra and Davide Rigon crowned champions in the GTD Pro class, while Risi Competizione clinched the team competition honours. The result came at the end of the Petit Le Mans, the season showdown of the American series, where the 488 GT3 Evo 2020 of the new champions, helped out on this occasion by James Calado, had crossed the finish line in first place only to be relegated to seventh after the race. Thanks to the points haul from the race, Daniel Serra and Davide Rigon have secured the Drivers’ title in GTD Pro of the Endurance Cup, two points ahead of the runners-up. A Ferrari crew thus returns to the top of the table six years on from the last victory.

GT World Challenge Europe. Twin honours also in the final Endurance Cup encounter of the European SRO-organised series dedicated to GT3 class cars. In the Pro-Am class, Andrea Bertolini, Louis Machiels and Stefano Costantini were proclaimed champions thanks to a third place finish in the 3 Hours of Barcelona. For the Italian driver, this is a tenth international career title, while it is a fifth for his Belgian team-mate. AF Corse, meanwhile, won the overall classification (which combines the Sprint Cup and Endurance Cup races), again in the Pro-Am class. Despite a very complete race that ended with a runner-up spot, Antonio Fuoco – who for the race relied on the support from Alessio Rovera and reigning champion Alessandro Pier Guidi – was unable to make up the eleven point-deficit which he needed prior to the Spanish round. At the end of a season as one of the main protagonists, capped with a triumph at the 1000 km of Paul Ricard, the Italian driver was forced to settle for runner-up spot, just two points shy of the winners.

Legendary numbers. This weekend’s results further enhance an honours list almost unmatched in the world of gran turismo racing. The 488 GT3, in the standard format as well as the Evo 2020 version, take the tally of wins to 507 plus a total of 114 national and international titles since 2016.

Antonello Coletta, Head of Ferrari Attività Sportive GT: “Last week we celebrated 500 wins and today we are here to enjoy another extremely generous weekend in terms of results. I am particularly pleased to have once again clinched a title in the IMSA series that had been missing for a few years, and for those in the Pro-Am class in the GT World Challenge, which is testament to the qualities of the car for professional drivers and gentlemen alike.”
