Maserati nomina Giovanni Tommaso Sgro Head of Maserati Corse

Modena, 2 May 2022 – Giovanni Tommaso Sgro has been assigned responsibility for the Maserati Corse department. In his role, Sgro will lead the brand's work in the sporting field, reporting directly to Davide Grasso, Maserati CEO and operationally to Jean-Marc Finot, Senior VP, Stellantis Motorsport.

Giovanni Tommaso Sgro is an Italian American, born in Rome. A graduate in Communication Sciences from the University of Rhode Island (USA), he also completed university studies in Spanish and business administration. He can boast a great deal of long-standing international professional experience, with responsibilities in marketing and brand creation. Sgro has held a serious of positions with increasing responsibility within Diageo, including Group Brand Director and spent almost 10 years with the company managing a number of global brands. He was also in charge of leveraging the motorsports platforms which Included a 7 year commitment with NASCAR, Grand Am and Rolex 24, maximizing the sponsorship.

With motorsport in its genes, Maserati will be the first Italian brand to compete in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship from 2023. As such, the newly created organization aims to renew the Maserati spirit of pure competition.
Sgro will be coordinating Maserati’s future work in motorsport; he will raise awareness of the brand and its racing vocation.
