Russian Grand Prix – Carlos on the podium after crazy closing laps
Sochi, 26 September 2021 –For the seventh time out of eight races here, Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow secured a podium finish in the Russian Grand Prix. It was down to Carlos Sainz, who led the early stages and then did well to pick the right time to pit for Intermediate tyres in the closing stages, when heavy rain hit the Sochi track.
Charles. Things did not go so well for Leclerc, who had climbed his way up the order from the penultimate position on the grid. He decided to stay out when the rain came, but went off the track, losing valuable time when the rain increased in intensity. The Monegasque managed to pit and take on wet weather tyres, but he then crossed the finish line down in 15th place. The next race takes place in Turkey in a fortnight’s time.
