United States Grand Prix – Seb so close to pole, Charles fourth
Austin, 2 November 2019 –Sebastian Vettel’s best lap was just 12 thousandths of a second off the pole position time in qualifying for the United States Grand Prix. The German starts from second on the grid, while team-mate Charles Leclers will start right behind him in fourth place at the Circuit of the Americas when the race starts tomorrow at 13.10 (20.10 CET.) Valtteri Bottas starts from pole.

Q3. Sebastian and Charles made the cut to Q3 on the Medium tyres, thus able to start the race on these tyres. They each had two sets of Softs for the final part of the session. On the first run, the German did a 1’32”041, just 12 thousandths off Bottas, while the Monegasque posted a 1’32”227. On the second set of tyres, Sebastian and indeed Bottas were unable to improve, while Charles got down to 1’32”137, to qualify fourth, only 41 thousandths behind third placed Max Verstappen.
