Russian Grand Prix – Another pole for Leclerc!

Sochi, 28 September 2019 –Charles Leclerc took his sixth pole position of the season, the seventh for Scuderia Ferrari, counting Sebastian Vettel’s in Canada. The Monegasque driver was the only man to get under the 1m 32s barrier to start tomorrow’s Russian Grand Prix at the front of the field, when it starts at 14.10 local, (13.10 CET.) Sebastian is third, just 23 thousandths slower than Lewis Hamilton.

Q3. In the final part of qualifying, Charles and Seb each had two sets of Soft tyres available. On his first run, Leclerc did a 1’31”801 while Vettel stopped the clocks in 1’32”135. On their next set of tyres, Charles improved to post a 1’31”628 and Sebastian got down to 1’32”053.

Statistics. This was Scuderia Ferrari’s 226th pole and, for the first time since 2008, the team has secured more than six poles in a season. Charles is the first Ferrari driver since Michael Schumacher to take four consecutive poles, the German having done so in Italy, the USA, Japan and Malaysia in 2000.
