ACI and Scuderia Ferrari in Piazza Duomo, Milan, to celebrate with the fans

There are just a few hours to go to the start of “90 Years of Emotions”, a major event organised by the ACI (Italian Automobile Club) to celebrate the 90th edition of the Italian Grand Prix. Guest of honour will be Scuderia Ferrari, in this, the 90th year since it was founded.

PROGRAMME. The busy programme of events starts at 17h00 (security gates open at 16h30, entrance is free) in Piazza Duomo, run by Radio RTL 102.5, hosted by Sky Sport Italia’s F1 presenters. Coming up on stage will be special guests and great racing drivers from the past and present, as well as stars of the future and of course, Scuderia Ferrari’s current line-up of Sebastian Vettel and fresh from taking his first ever Formula 1 win in last Sunday’s Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, Charles Leclerc, as well as Team Principal, Mattia Binotto. On show will be a display of cars, some of which will also take part in a parade, which will finish at the cathedral. After the event, fans will again be able to meet the drivers and Team Principal at the Ferrari Store in Via Berchet.

ACI. Representing the ACI will be its president, Angelo Sticchi Damiani, who has worked on promoting motor sport in Italy for many years, while AC Milano and SIAS (Società Incremento Automobilismo e Sport,) long time organisers of the Italian Grand Prix will be represented by Geronimo La Russa and Giuseppe Redaelli respectively. The event in the heart of Milan, celebrates the 89 editions of the Italian GP held to date, a race that has existed since well before the Formula 1 World Championship was established.

DRIVERS. The list of drivers attending gets longer by the day. So far, the following have confirmed they will attend: Mario Andretti, Alan Prost, Jean Alesi, Gerhard Berger, René Arnoux, Arturo Merzario, Eddie Irvine, Mika Salo, Luca Badoer, Ivan Capelli, Giancarlo Fisichella, Kimi Raikkonen, Antonio Giovinazzi and Felipe Massa. Representing the Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA) will be Giuliano Alesi, Callum Ilott, Mick Schumacher, Marcus Armstrong, Robert Shwartzman, Enzo Fittipaldi and Gianluca Petecof.

STATIC DISPLAY. On stage at the Piazza Duomo will be some iconic cars from the Maranello marque, including the 1967 312 F1 as raced by Chris Amon, Clay Regazzoni’s 312 B3/74, Gilles Villeneuve’s 126 CK, the first turbocharged Ferrari to win a Grand Prix in Monaco in 1981, the Indycar prototype, the F2002, which won a record number of races and with which Michael Schumacher took the Drivers’ title, as well as the Constructor’s championship along with Rubens Barrichello. This car was recently driven by Mick, the son of the seven times world champion at the German GP meeting.

PARADE. There will also be a parade of unforgettable cars, that tell the story of Scuderia Ferrari and the Maranello marque, which was established 18 years after the team was formed, going on to be a globally recognised symbol of style, performance and innovation. The Alfa Romeo 6C driven in the ‘30s by Tazio Nuvolari represents the first era of the Scuderia, when Enzo Ferrari, realising the potential of providing cars for amateur racers, set up his team. Then will come the 1955 Ferrari 750 Monza, one of the most famous cars built by the company Enzo founded after the war, in 1947. The 312 T with which Niki Lauda won the 1975 world championship will be there as a tribute to the recently departed Austrian champion as well as the number 51 488 GTE that won this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours, in the hands of Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Daniel Serra. There will also be a motorcycle in the parade, a Rudge 500 TT, to represent the fact that Scuderia Ferrari also took part in two-wheeled racing. Apart from the racing cars, four beautiful road-going Ferraris will also take part: the Monza SP1 and SP2, in honour of the home race, as well as an F8 Tributo and 488 Pista Spider.
